Tuckpointing

All homes and commercial buildings have a need for masonry work. Stone, brick, concrete, and mortar can be found in structural foundations, chimneys, porches, driveways and sidewalks. Over time, materials used in these structures begin to wear when exposed to the elements and will need maintenance.

Buildings made of brick and block, chimneys and building foundations are amongst the most common structures to need tuckpointing. The process involves using fresh mortar to fill in holes, cracks, and gaps in between existing brick or block. Our team handles these jobs with care to ensure that the color of the new mortar matches the old giving your home or build a consistent look.

Tuckpointing is necessary when cracking and crumbling of the mortar is apparent. To understand the entire picture, our team will give your job a thorough evaluation and provide expert recommendations.

Retaining Walls

Retaining walls are a visually impressive way to maintain the slope of the earth while building new homes and landscaping. These walls support their own weight while resisting the lateral force of the soil they are retaining. Regardless of the material the retaining wall is made of, it can begin to lean over time. Our teams of professional masons can quickly stabilize the wall, and in most cases, pull it back to its original position.

Common causes of retaining wall failures include overgrown plants and poor drainage, unanticipated weight due to increased plants, poor construction, and general foundation issues like cracks. Walls created with poor drainage will be susceptible to cracks and failure. Well-planned landscaping can help with directing water flow away from the wall, but oftentimes a weep hole (small drainage hole) is the best option to alleviate the added pressure of heavily saturated soil. Areas with compact, clay-based soil will often incur these problems.

Because of this, well-built retaining walls are a must. If your property has a retaining wall that you inherited, our team of experts can inspect it for cracks and stability, ensuring your property maintains its structural integrity.
